EMF-IX: The Future of Peering is Here (and it's in a Field)
🌿 NEW & IMPROVED: Festival network now peers directly on EMF-IX! 🌿
Welcome to EMF-IX — the world's most relentlessly ambitious Internet Exchange Point. Forget LINX Cardiff. Forget DE-CIX London. The future of peering isn't in data centers. It's in a muddy field in the UK, powered by diesel generators and sheer willpower.

Why EMF-IX?
One switch to rule them all: Our state-of-the-art Juniper EX3400 stands tall, undefeated, unpatched, and unreplicated. Redundancy is for cowards.
Zero-cost ports: Connect at 1G Base-T (10G SFP in limited supply) and your port is FREE. Yes, really. We don't believe in capitalism — only peering purity.
No remote peering: We don't allow it. We don't trust it. If you're not physically present, you're not peering — you're pretending. Shunned.
Exponential growth: For three consecutive EMF camping festivals, our traffic has doubled. This year, we predict 12.7 Gbps peak. That's bigger than Gibraltar.
Local traffic obsession: We deeply care about keeping traffic local. That's why we peer everything in a field 200 miles from any major city. Nothing says "local routing" like a /24 subnet hosted next to a haybale.

Colocation Requirements
Want to colocate your low-power gear in the sacred EMF-IX marquee? Here's what you need to know:
Power draw: Maximum 50W (Unless the device is pre-approved because it's very funny). Ideally powered by a C13 connector
Size: 1U max. Small computers ideally.
Cooling: Ideally your equipment should be passive only.
Network connection: 1x 1GBase-T port. General internet is provided on untagged VLAN, IXP Lan is tagged on VLAN 4
Labeling: All equipment must be labeled with your name, AS number, and a motivational slogan.
Email emfix@benjojo.co.uk to cordinate anything bigger than a WYSE box/Raspberry Pi in a case
Exchange Rules
No DN42 ASNs: This is the real internet.
No remote peering: Physical presence required. If we can't see your face, we can't trust your BGP messages. Remote peers will be shunned and their ASNs blackholed.
Do not harm the LAN: No flooding, no scanning, no ARP spam. If you enable proxy ARP you will be ejected
Ethernet sanity: Only standard Ethernet II frames. No raw 802.1AD (After Dark) nightmares, no ancient LLC/SNAP relics. This isn't a museum.
IPv4 and IPv6 only: No IPX, no AppleTalk, no DECnet. We tolerate no nostalgia.
Peering is civil: No route hijacks, no prefix overreach..
